Prvi put se spominje 1365. godine kao Vallis Sancti Stephani. Mjesto se odlikuje atraktivnim šetnicama i prirodnim plažama. Razvijen je turizam, a zahvaljujući sigurnim uvalama često je sidrište jahti i brodova. U blizini je i uvala Bok s ljekovitim blatom. U mjestu zimi obitava oko 100 stanovnika, dok se ta brojka ljeti višestruko povećava. Tradicionalna fešta se održava 2.– 3. kolovoza svake godine.
Župa Luka na Dugom otoku dala je 74 svećenika glagoljaša.

Luka is a settlement in the central part of Dugi otok, located under the island's largest hill, Vela Straža. The nearest place is Žman (from the southeast) and Savar (from the northwest).
It was first mentioned in 1365 as Vallis Sancti Stephani. The place is characterized by attractive promenades and natural beaches. Tourism is developed, and thanks to the safe bays, it is often the anchorage for yachts and ships. Bok bay with medicinal mud is also nearby. About 100 inhabitants live in the village in winter, while this number increases many times over in summer. The traditional festival is held on August 2-3 every year.
The parish of Luka on Dugi otok produced 74 Glagolitic priests.
