God. 1577. utvrda je obnovljena i preimenovana u Sedd-i islam (Bedem islama). U XVII. st. bio je sjedište Islamske kapetanije ili Gornje krajine. Kao njezini kapetani u XVII. st. istaknuli su se članovi obitelji Beširagić. Od 1647. bio je u sastavu mletačkih posjeda u Dalmaciji, a od 1670. u posjedu obitelji Mitrović-Janković. Današnje ime dobio je 1709.
Mirno okruženje, idealan su spoj prirode i blizine mora, pa tako prilika za sagraditi dom Van užurbanih gradskih kvartova.
Zanimljivost ovog mjesta je višestoljetni ZELENI HRAST -koji ima preko 250g. i koji je danas spomenička baština mjesta.
